Nike, the global apparel and shoe company, closed its corporate offices for a week so that employees could “enjoy additional time off to rest and recover.”
As senior manager Matt Marrazzo stated, this week was “an acknowledgement that we can prioritize mental health and still get work done.”
This decision was celebrated by Nike’s employees who viewed it as a chance to recharge and also as a “thank you” for all the year’s work. This week highlighted the importance of taking time off for mental health reasons at any time, not only when ill.
